Five baggage carousels at Sacramento International Airport are now doubling as revolving billboards, advertising Thunder Valley Casino Resort’s new hotel, spa and expanded gaming area.
Sacramento International is the 13th airport in North America to use baggage carousel advertising, which aims to catch travelers waiting to pick up their bags. The ads, which form an adhesive wrap of sorts on the slow-moving conveyor belts, were installed last week by DoubleTake Marketing LLC of Salt Lake City.
Thunder Valley leased the ad space from Clear Channel Airports, which manages advertising space at the Sacramento airport. Thunder Valley leased five of the airport’s seven baggage carousels for a year. As part of the ad campaign, at least one carousel has been decorated to look like a roulette wheel.
The idea for the ad campaign came out of a brainstorming session between the casino and ad agency MeringCarson, which did graphic design work for the project, casino spokesman Doug Elmets said.
