One of the city's top ad firms has a new name. Mering & Associates, known for its tourism accounts, has become MeringCarson now that creative director Greg Carson has been named a partner.
Carson started off at the company as an intern 13 years ago, rose through the ranks, left for a stint at industry heavyweight J. Walter Thompson, then returned in 2000.
Founder Dave Mering didn't want him leaving again. "He's a young guy in a creative business and those people move around a lot," Mering says.
The name change means new signs, new business cards, a Web site revision. More expense than Mering anticipated. But, he says, "I would have done it anyway."
Carson, 35, says his goal is to bring more national accounts here to show "we can do work like the large agencies in New York and San Francisco."
